Viking Hygienic
Hygienic pumps for food, beverage, biotech, and pharmaceutical
Although Viking Pump Hygienic is a relatively new name in the hygienic pump market, it has a pedigree going back well into the last century to the highly respected lobe pump range from Johnson Pump. In fact, the current facility in Eastbourne, UK is the former HQ of Johnson Pump UK.
The history of Viking Pump Hygienic also includes another well-respected hygienic pump brand, that of Wright Pump who were formed to provide parts and support for Waukesha Universal circumferential piston pumps. Wright later merged with Johnson Pump to form Wright Flow Technologies.
In 2021, Wright Flow Technologies was renamed Viking Pump Hygienic, and Viking continues the long tradition of quality, reliability, and ease of maintenance of the Johnson, Wright Flow and indeed Waukesha brands.
Viking Hygienic Pumps operate with high efficiencies and are available with a wide range of porting, cleaning, and sealing options to meet your needs. In a business where cleanliness is key to reduce cross-contamination, we offer CIP (clean in place), SIP (sanitize in place), and COP (clean out of place) pumps to save you time and effort.
Viking rotary lobe and circumferential piston pumps offer gentle handling of liquids, including those with suspended solids, making them the perfect pump choice for shear sensitive applications, particular in the Food and Drink and Pharmaceutical sectors. Precise timing gears prevent the rotors from contacting, limiting wear over time regardless of liquid viscosity.
The non-galling stainless alloy rotors of Viking Pump Hygienic’s circumferential piston pumps allow for tighter casing clearances, making them suitable for handling low viscosity liquids and high differential pressure requirements.
The Viking Pump Hygienic range is third-party certified by the FDA and 3A, with some options constructed to EHEDG standards. This guarantees quality and cleanliness for all hygienic applications whether it be food, beverage, pharmaceutical or biotech.
Hygienic Lobe Pumps |
|
---|---|
Rotary lobe pumps are positive displacement pumps that create moving cavities between the synchronised lobes in the pump chamber. Rotary lobe pumps are one of the most useful types of positive displacement pumps and are particularly wide spread in the food and beverage industry.

Hygienic Circumferential Piston Pumps |
|
---|---|
A circumferential piston pump (or rotary piston pump) is similar to a lobe pump, but uses special non-galling alloy rotors to offer strong self-priming capabilities and gentle handling of shear-sensitive fluids and slurries. Circumferential piston pumps (or rotary piston pumps) are food grade industrial pumps and feature a stainless steel 316 body with rotors constructed from a non-galling stainless alloy. The close-clearance operation of the rotors is critical to the performance of the pump and allows gentle handling of high viscosity, shear-sensitive fluids. These pumps can be used for pumping butter & fats, fondants, icing, concentrated pastes, fruit concentrates, whole foods and other fragile or high viscosity materials.
