Overview
Liquiflo Polyguard Series PFA* Lined Gear Pumps are an excellent choice for pumping chemicals that require expensive alloys in metallic pumps, such as inorganic acids, bases and salts like Hydrochloric Acid, Ferric Chloride, Sulphuric Acid, Hydrofluoric Acid, Sodium Hypochlorite, Nitric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide and Chromic Acid.
They are also the first choice for high purity services where contact with metallic components must be avoided. Wetted materials include PFA-lined stainless steel pressure components with Silicon Carbide shafts and a choice of non-metallic materials for the bearings, wearplates and gears.
No Wetted Metal Components
- PFA-Lined pressure boundary components
- Self Sintered Silicon Carbide (SIC) shafts
- PFA-Encapsulated Inner Magnet
- Wearplates of either Ceramic, Carbon, PEEK, Ryton or Teflon
- Gears of either PEEK, PVDF, Ryton or Teflon
- Bearings of either SIC, Carbon, PEEK, Ryton or Teflon
Advantages of PFA-Lined Stainless Steel Housings
- Traditional pressure integrity expected of metal pumps
- Exempt from wicking problems associated with fibre reinforced housings
- Limits the effects of heat entrapment and corresponding thermal expansion issues
- Limits the effect of fluid absorption
- Increases strength and durability required for process pump services
Benefits of SiC Shafts & Bearings
- Exceptional chemical resistance
- Exceptional wear resistance
*PFA is an abbreviation for Perfluoroalkoxy alkanes, these are polymers with properties similar to those of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Compared to PTFE, PFA has better anti-stick properties and higher chemical resistance. PFA are more translucent and have improved flow and creep resistance, with thermal stability close to or exceeding PTFE.[4] Thus, PFA is preferred when extended service is required in hostile environments involving chemical, thermal, and mechanical stress. PFA offers high melt strength, stability at high processing temperatures, excellent crack and stress resistance and a low coefficient of friction.
